Freedom Rings

The Spark:

Flying over Seattle in a small plane, I looked down at rows of rooftops — each one like a tiny steeple. It made me wonder what each home worships, what we build our little shrines to in everyday life.  This song became a meditation on worship — in the choices we make daily. I wanted to ask: what are the altars we tend without noticing?

The Spark:

I keep seeing how verses meant to set people free get wielded to shut them up. That holy frustration lit a fire: a vision of a fearless woman in red, walking into rooms built on brittle tradition and refusing to bow. This song is my strike of the match—a protest against gaslighted scripture and a celebration of the voices who won’t be silenced.

The Spark:

I was looking back at my family’s journey through time, and writing this song was my way of humanizing that history, blending it with my own awareness of what we've become. This ancestor is  watching the dream unravel, yet still searching for something true and worth fighting for. At its heart, the song’s spark is a dialogue between generations.
